Plato's Work in Danish Print E-mail
Wednesday, 30 December 2009
The Gyldendal publishing house together with Copenhagen University Saxo Institute present the first out of six volumes of Plato˘s collected dialogues, all of them to be published by 2014 in Danish.
Thirty scientists have contributed to this effort which constitutes a modern collection with additional guiding material for the reader such as maps and indexes. The most recent translation of Plato˘s complete work in Danish dates back to 80 years ago.

Since then, the Danish language has evolved and translation methods have changed.

The first volume of the new edition was published on November 5 and the same day the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek   museum hosted a book presentation at the museum˘s ionic style central hall.

He is recognized as one of the top international scholars of Platonist philosophy and has published almost thirty books, and nearly 150 articles. The Academy has acknowledged Professor Dillon's very significant and original contribution to the study of Greek philosophy.
