One of the rare, major green spaces in greater Athens - the Park of Environmental Information and Sensitisation "Antonis Tritsis" could be revamped. A significant refuge for over 170 bird species that live in its six artificial lakes and a recreation area for one of Attica˘s most industrialized areas, the park is the focus of a landscape and environment project held by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) members in Greece - the British Council, Goethe Institute and French Institute - in a joint initiative with the Hellenic Ornithological Society. The essential element of the project is an architectural competition in sustainable design for students of architecture and other related disciplines - including agronomists, environmental scientists, geo-engineers, and social scientists - for an innovative proposal for the design, or redesign, of the park.
