The town of Kalavryta in the Prefecture of Achaia is a historic and beautiful Peloponnesian destination for all seasons.
Kalavryta undoubtedly has a special place in the hearts of Greeks for its role in the national struggle against the Ottoman rule. Just a few kilometers outside the town set in beautiful surroundings on the side of a pine-covered mountain is the Monastery of Agia Lavra, where the first flag of freedom was raised by Bishop Germanos of Patras under the motto "Freedom or Death." |
