Hellenic Republic President Karolos Papoulias inaugurated on June 5 the Environment Museum of Stymphalia.
The Lake of Stymphalia is the southernmost mountainous wetland of the Balkans and an important bird area. The water basin of Stymphalia is considered to be the largest mountain lake of the Peloponnese. The region's ecological value, centred on the lake and its rich forests, is confirmed by its inclusion in the European Network of Protected Areas NATURA 2000.
